Paul McCartney: angry driver almost runs down the artist on Abbey Road

Irony almost ran down Paul McCartney. As the singer was standing on the famous zebra crossing, he almost got hit by a car. The whole scene is on video, watch it with Alex.

McCartney recreates famous Abbey Road artwork...with unexpected plot twist

The whole scene was caught on tape, as McCartney was not standing on Abbey Road’s zebra crossing by chance. His daughter Mary, who is filming the documentary If These Walls Could Talk, asked to re-enact the famous scene where all four Beatles are crossing the street to get to the Abbey Road music studios.

For this one scene, McCartney crosses the street alone. As he’s halfway into it, car car drives by, brushing past him. The singer laughs at the irony.

“The bit where the car nearly ran him over on the zebra crossing, that was so funny. As we were leaving [the studio], I said, ‘I’ll film you [on the crossing],’ and he went over and this car totally didn’t stop for him,”, Mary McCartney stated about the incident. You can watch the footage below.

Paul McCartney: a documentary about the Abbey Road studios around the corner

If These Walls Could Sing is a new documentary created by Mary McCartney, daughter of Paul and Linda. It goes over the long history of the iconic studio, and includes interviews with McCartney and Ringo Starr, alongside Elton John, Nile Rodgers, Noel and Liam Gallagher, Roger Waters, Celeste, George Lucas and more.

Mary McCartney explained that she the idea came from the fact that she used to hang out a lot in the studios as a kid – a privilege many of us could be very jealous of. Yet, even though she “grew up going to Abbey Road Studios”, May didn’t know much of the history. “Pretty much everything I learnt [for the first time],” she explained. “We wouldn’t sit around as a family and talk about these Beatles stories.” She went on to explain that her bearing her dad’s name almost had her pulling out of the project. The documentary arrived on on Disney+ on January 6.
